Twenty-two (22) registered GAASC members attended the meeting.  Six (6) guests and one (1) walk-in registration guest also joined us for two days of presentations and networking.  See registration list at end of meeting summary for more details.

GAASC President, Bryan Townsend opened the meeting at Manchester Meadows and welcomed everyone to Rock Hill, South Carolina.

Bicycling in the Cloud

Learn about the experience of using ArcGIS Server 10 on Amazon EC2 for publishing a web application to track and display the command/lead car during the 6 hour US Pro Cycling Championship Race in Greenville, SC. This project involved determining how to pull the GPS coordinates for the vehicle to the cloud server, using Amazon EC2 with ArcGIS Server, and using the ESRI JavaScript API so that the application could be viewed on multiple devices.

What’s New in ArcGIS 10.1

ArcGIS 10.1 release is scheduled for early 2012. Like other software releases, there are changes we must prepare for in order to take advantage of new functionality. This presentation will focus on what the GIS manager or GIS systems analyst should know about the release. The topics covered will include: Desktop, Server, Mobile applications, and ArcGIS.com. Change is coming, we must prepare.

State of the State GIS

This session will provide a brief update of GIS activities occurring at the state level. It will focus on data projects such as the LiDAR program. Applications and available data feeds will also be covered.
